Be patient; strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near. James 5:8 nasb
The Lord is near. Philippians 4:5 nasb
As we prepare each new edition of The Lord Is Near Daily Bible Meditations Calendar, we are reminded that our Lord Jesus Christ could return at any moment. Each edition of the calendar is produced several years in advance of its publication, and it strikes us that by the time this 2026 edition is published, the Lord may indeed have already come! If you are reading this, His return has not yet occurred—but His coming remains imminent. As the Scriptures above assure us, “The Lord is near.”
For five decades, The Lord Is Near calendar has sought to encourage the Lord’s people as we await His return. However, the title of this devotional is not only a reference to the nearness of Christ’s return, but also to the fact that He is near to the child of God on a daily basis. King David tells us that “The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth” (Ps. 145:18). Our prayer is that as you read these scriptural meditations you may have the sense of the Lord’s presence with you. The psalmist also writes, “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted” (Ps. 34:18)—a wonderful thought for those passing through a season of trials. May these meditations be a comfort to you, and may you experience the nearness of the Lord no matter the circumstances!
The apostle Paul wrote to the Christians in Rome, “now salvation is nearer to us than when we first believed” (Rom. 13:11). This is still true today and is the only Bible verse that is truer every time we read it. The Lord is near!
