The Lord Is Near 2025 calendar

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 1 Peter 1:3–5 NKJV

The Father: Source of Every Blessing

Peter has already reminded these scattered saints of their position in Christ in the opening verses. Now he breaks out in praise for the hope that every follower of Christ can enjoy. It seems often when the Spirit of God is about to give us some wonderful truth, He has the human author break out in a doxology in order to set the tone for what is to come. Paul gives a similar statement of praise in Ephesians 1:3–6: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ … by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.” This makes for one very long sentence when read completely, but it is full of irreplaceable truth that is strength to the believer!

Peter’s proclamation in this passage points us again to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In each place we find Him to be the source from which all our blessings flow. He is the source of our comfort and encouragement, the source of our position before Him, and the source of our hope!

Father, Spring and Source of blessing,
Grateful praise to Thee we bring;
Objects of Thy sovereign favor,
Gladly of Thy love we sing—
Love that found its full expression
In Thy gift unspeakable,
Him—who dwelling in Thy bosom,
Could alone its secrets tell.
