The Lord Is Near 2024 calendar

Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. John 14:1–3 NKJV

Living a Life of Hope (6)

The hope of a home in heaven awaits every true follower of Christ. Just before He went to the cross, the Lord Jesus promised His followers that He was going to go to prepare them a place. Then He went to the cross, and His finished work on that cross prepared them for that place. After His crucifixion and His resurrection, the Lord Jesus ascended into heaven, and now His presence there has prepared heaven for everyone and anyone who puts their faith in His finished work. This is the hope of heaven!

You and I can enjoy the hope of heaven, because heaven is a real place! It is the dwelling place of our God and Father (Ps. 33:13; Mt. 6:9). It is the dwelling place of our blessed Savior (Heb. 1:3; 8:1). It is the home of every believer who has passed into the presence of their Lord (2 Cor. 5:8). It is a place of holiness (Rev. 4:8), of light (Rev. 21:23), of worship (Rev. 5:9–14), and of perfect peace (Rev. 21:4).

We can enjoy the hope of heaven now, because our blessed Lord promise it, secured it! He is there now as the focal point for you and me, and will be for all eternity! As we run this race called life, Christians are to have their eyes fixed on the Lord Jesus (Heb. 12:1–3); and when we are there in heaven, this same One who is our object now will be the One we gaze upon then (Rev. 5:9–14). What makes heaven our hope? Christ is there, and to be with Him is far better! As you go through this day, rejoice that you have a home in heaven—because you have a Savior in heaven!

O what a home! The Son who knows—He only—all His love;

And brings us as His well-beloved to that bright rest above.
