Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” Genesis 15:5 NKJV

Trusting the Creator

What an amazing object lesson; what a sight that must have been as Abraham looked up to the Middle Eastern sky, what splendor what magnificence! David too was mesmerized as he gazed at the sky, perhaps as a shepherd out in the field at night, or when fleeing from Saul out in the wilderness. His thoughts bubbled over, exclaiming, “When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him?” (Ps. 8:3–4).

And for us, we who have technology like the Hubble Space Telescope and high definition photographs to show us images that are so amazing, what is our response as we contemplate the wonders of creation displayed in the universe? How can we comprehend the immensity of the galaxies, the size of the stars and planets, the forces at play as these highly complex and intricate systems interact one with another with such precision and perfection?

Truly it is foolish to consider even for an instant that this is the result of chance, or some other illogical theory.

But for those of us who believe, what comfort, what consolation, what peace His greatness imparts to our hearts! We know that the One who created, controls, and maintains all things by His hands is the God who loves us and has given His life for us.

As we consider the immensity of His creation and the perfection of its order, should this not give us confidence for every minute detail of our personal life? If the universe exists with such precision and perfection, then there is no logic for me to doubt Him as to the needs of my everyday life, even in the difficulties that are before me today.
